I wrote this piece as a contest entry for the Symphonina Foundation’s annual competition. My orchestral version is like a piano concerto and can currently be found on SoundCloud: https://tinyurl.com/Symphonina2. This piece is inspired by Frederic Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 11 in E minor, II. Romanze, from which I derived the title. The first theme after the introduction opens with a major 6th to pay homage to the piano’s entrance in Chopin’s concerto. I was also influenced by Nobuo Uematsu’s Aerith’s Theme from Final Fantasy VII, which is more obvious in my orchestrated version. This piece works well as a wedding recessional when started at 2:11. I have had the privilege of playing this at two weddings in 2024! Of my recent compositions, this is the one of which I am most proud. (2023)
